Counselling Resources

A little clarity before you begin.

If counselling is new to you, questions are natural. These simple answers may help make the first step feel less uncertain.

Do I need to know exactly what is wrong?

No. Many people begin counselling with a feeling that something is difficult, unclear or no longer working. You can start there.

What happens in a first session?

A first conversation is usually a chance to share what brings you in, ask questions and consider what support may be helpful. Your counsellor can explain the process before you decide what comes next.

Is counselling only for a crisis?

No. People seek counselling for many reasons, including reflection, relationships, changes, stress and personal growth. You do not need to wait until things feel overwhelming.

How do I know whether a counsellor is the right fit?

Feeling heard, respected and able to speak honestly matters. It is reasonable to ask about a counsellor’s way of working before beginning.

Still wondering where to start?

A short enquiry can help you understand what the next step might look like.
